The Dynamic Market Profile

The Dynamic Market Profile

This week I want to share with you a video from a recent MTA Educational Web series presentation I gave near the end of May 2013.  In this presentation I demonstrate a tool I developed called the Dynamic Market Profile, an adaptation of the well-known Market Profile indicator by J. Peter Steidlmayer.

As an Engineer, I am always looking at ways I can improve or expand on the different indicators available within Market Analyst.  One of the results of my experimentation with the MPA tool was the creation of a new indicator I’ve dubbed the “Dynamic Market Profile”.  The DMA tool is made up of a series of five bands that provide a whole new way of looking at market action.

In the presentation I explain the basics of Market Profile (for those unfamiliar with its construction), then go into the detail of how I built this new dynamic indicator.  At the end I outline the testing of a strategy built on this indicator, highlighting its practical applications for technical analysis.

The process will be of benefit for any budding system writers on how profit alone is not enough in determining the robustness of a trading strategy.
